Debra Bowen is your home girl.

Soon, the “conservative agenda” will be hitting California with Proposition 8, a voting initiative where citizens will have the opportunity to “vote” on whether or not they want to ban same-sex marriage. The California Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, changed the language of the conservative Proposition 8, and it seems that the new language might make it less likely to pass.
The original language was this:
“[Proposition 8] amends the California Constitution to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.
She changed it to this :
The initiative “Changes California Constitution to eliminate right of same-sex couples to marry.”
Here is a picture of our beloved Debra Bowen:
Although Debra has a sort of mom haircut, an 80s suit and pearls, and looks a little uptight, I’d definitely “take one for the team” and show her some gratitude. No need for a Peace Prize my friends, I do it out of the goodness of my heart.

This woman is amazing! I love that there’s fair-minded people in the government.

Does her changing the language REALLY make anything any better?

In response to Kaya- yes, because it doesn’t try varnish over the ugly truth with placating, disingenuous words. It just calls it like it is. Too rare in politics and, in my opinion, a move likely to ensure that the majority of CA voters will not choose it.
