I heart Miss America, Kate Shindle
Posted on 17 November 2008 | Category: fantasy lesbian, people we heart

I know what you’re thinking…here’s a post about the tight, wonderful bottom of (former) Miss America, or her still supple perky breasts…it is none of that. Why do I love this woman? For her mind.

Yes, I said it.

Guess who showed up at Proposition 8 protests in New York City? Miss America. As reported on 365gay.com, she stated “that she is straight and though she is conservative on many issues, she is on the right side of this one - we are on the right side - and we will lay down in the streets if we have to, in order to win our equal rights.”

So, Kate…though you protests are over for tonight…do you still want to do that “laying down on the streets” thing you referred to?

Many Lesbians love football, and football, apparently loves us.

Along with all of the crap of Prop 8, there were some surprising people who came out against adding a ban to same-sex marriage, and according to On Top Magazine, one of those people was Steve Young, the legendary 49ers quarterback. So, going against both his conservative friends, and his Mormon church (the mormons donated 77% of all funds to the “Yes on 8″ campaign), the family of Steve Young stated:

“We believe ALL families matter and we do not believe in discrimination, therefore, our family will vote against Prop 8.”

Props to Steve and his family, for doing the right thing…despite the outcome.

Very Nice: Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron married in new movie.

Okay, if I’m honest about it, I’d have sex with both of these women…at the same time or alone, I’m not that picky. But, their latest movie venture makes me love them with everything my little vagina (and brain) can muster.

According to Reuters.com, Nicole Kidman just signed on to do the film “The Danish Girl,” based on the true story of Einar and Greta Wegener. Nicole will play a transsexual (Einar, male to female) who goes through gender reassignment surgery in 1931 and is married to Charlize (Greta). The dynamics and acting in this film should be amazing.

Both of these women are phenomenal actresses, and admittedly better at their craft than most will ever be…and both of them have the guts to put it out there. Charlize has also been a vocal same-sex marriage supporter, and although Nicole Kidman was married to a whacko…having or even implying sex with another woman is certainly enough to get her back on my list for good judgment.

I love Leo (no, not that DiCaprio guy).

In a feel-good story to end your week, it seems that a mixed terrier named Leo, refused to leave a burning house in Sydney, Australia because he was guarding a litter of kittens. The dog was found amidst thick smoke, surrounding the kittens and keeping them safe reported Yahoo news.

Although Leo had to be revived by rescuers by oxygen and a heart massage, Leo and the kittens survived…and without Leo, the kittens would have died.

Sometimes you don’t have to be enemies. Way to go Leo!

I have no idea what Leo looks like, so here’s a random terrier mix to appreciate in his place:

Women of Rwanda: They do more than my lame (but well-honed) bottom.
Posted on 28 October 2008 | Category: people we heart

The women of Rwanda have TROUNCED us, ladies. Yeah, they might be from a small east african country, and there was that whole “genocide thing” (um, that killed maybe half a million people), but these women know how to pull it up in the toughest of times. The Washington Post reported this:

“Here, women are not only driving the economy — working on construction sites, in factories and as truck and taxi drivers — they are also filling the ranks of government.

Women hold a third of all cabinet positions, including foreign minister, education minister, Supreme Court chief and police commissioner general. And Rwanda’s parliament last month became the first in the world where women claim the majority — 56 percent, including the speaker’s chair.”

Women of Rwanda, you officially kick ass.

Marrying that hot piece might not last forever….

So think about giving to a great cause - your future. There are some great and hot women out there fighting for your rights, even as we speak. A great site http://www.8against8.com is a collaboration of 8 lesbian bloggers who have formed a wonderful alliance to stop Proposition 8, the ballot measure in California that wants to take away your right to get married to that hot chick you bang.

Now, I’m not saying marriage is for everyone…but just think…guaranteed nookie forever? Don’t you deserve at least this?

Hilary Duff should get your attention
Posted on 13 October 2008 | Category: people we heart

She belts out some tunes that you may secretly listen to…but Hilary Duff is more than just a pretty face with a synthesized voice, she’s actually doing some pretty cool things.

Recently appearing in ads for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network…she’s actually an advocate. It’s a new campaign, it’s recently released, and it’s an admittedly lame public service announcement that I would have done differently, but at least she’s out there giving it a voice.

Eva Mendes calls it like it is.

It may not be from a scientific journal, but Eva Mendes just makes my heart sing with this remark:

“I think sweatpants are the number one reason for divorce in this country.” (ok magazine)

Why do I love it so much? Because there is something deep down that tells me that she wouldn’t be an offender. I’d come home from a hard days work, only to find her in stilettos cooking my dinner….that, my friends, is a good marriage.

Sexist? no. Sexy? Absolutely.
